Text Mining
Boolean Search - Using boolean search, we take advantage of a wide range of logic modifiers to specify precise search terms, apply logic, and define custom results. Boolean operators can specify not only logical pairings such as [and] or [or]; they can also specify wildcards, proximity, adjacencies, synonyms, wildcards and more. We use boolean search to mine vast free text documents, navigate structured classification systems and target deep-indexed fields so that no desired data can be missed.
Natural Language Processing - Natural language processing (NLP) considers the complex and diverse nature of human communications, including challenges of meaning and context. With our natural language capabilities, we develop semantic networks of text, perform abstracting, create taxonomies and ontologies, implement part of speech tagging, and facilitate semantic search of critical patent, technical and business databases.
Latent Semantic Analysis - Resulting in an associative, almost "human-like" understanding of documents, latent semantic analysis (LSA) works by mapping relationships between each word and every other word in a document. Associations are based on the context in which the words are used, creating conceptual relationships and themes of an entire document. Because latent semantic analysis operates on concepts, not keywords, LSA can retrieve relevant documents even when those documents do not share any words with the query.
Analytics
Mapping - Mapping tools for patents, technology, business and legal information visually represents relationships that may be otherwise hidden, obscured or uncorrelated by other means. Map types used by Perception Partners include treemaps, hyperbolic maps, landscape maps, heatmaps, citation maps, cluster maps and many other types. Our approach to mapping permits us to aggregate components of vast text documents to highlight similarities, differences or trends. Mapping reveals valuable information such as technical and market trends, competitor behavior, investment patterns and knowledge networks.
