Intellectual Property Analytics Manager
Summary:
Perception Partners is a global advisory services firm that helps companies and investors understand, quantify and maximize the value from innovation and intellectual property (IP). We have an excellent opportunity for an IP analytics manager especially skilled in patent analytics, statistical packages, visualization tools and presentation software who will be responsible for producing and managing data used for analyses as well as written presentations provided to our clients.
Responsibilities:
• Assist senior analysts in performing patent and literature searches to produce datasets that accurately reflect the proper coverage of a given company, technology or market area
• Perform data preparation and statistical analysis utilizing in-house and commercially available packages
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses of numeric and textual data
• Create graphical presentations from analytic results
• Optimize data collection processes to increase productivity, reduce timelines and efficiently allocate company resources
• Manage internal R&D projects, including software customization, to enhance effectiveness of analytical tools
• Evaluate new analytical tools, and integrate into internal toolkit as appropriate
• Work with the internal project team to ensure total customer satisfactionRequired Knowledge & Skills:
• Two or more years manipulating search, analytic, publishing and other software tools to produce customized data queries, analysis, and reports
• Two or more years sourcing and utilizing results from professional query-driven patent, science and technical literature databases
• Proven experience with graphical presentation of data and information suitable for delivery to end users
• Demonstrated understanding of key statistical concepts (e.g., regression analysis, factor analysis, significance testing)
• Demonstrated understanding of key intellectual property concepts (e.g., patents, licensing, IP portfolio management)
• Independent self-starter with a passion for finding, organizing and presenting information
• Careful attention to details in both data preparation and presentation
• Analytical and written samples requiredExperience:

Business Development Director
Summary:
Perception Partners is a leader in providing rapid patent research, transaction and consulting services to Intellectual Property (IP) owners. We have an excellent opportunity for Business Development Directors. You will use passion, persistence and persuasion in securing orders for market assessment, landscape analysis, competitive intelligence and valuation reports from corporate, investor and economic development clients.Job Description:
The ideal candidate will be able to understand and communicate the strategic and economic impact of technology on business decisions. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the ability to quickly become familiar with industries and technologies regardless of previous training. With these core competencies, you will mix hot leads and cold calls to build a client base that supports a growing book of business.Responsibilities:
• Determine client needs through a consultative approach and accurately recommend and quote the most appropriate Perception Partners solutions
• Initiate sales contacts through outbound calls and emails. You will be expected to move opportunities along the sales cycle weekly
• Secure a minimum of five opportunities to the next stage of the Perception Partners sales process on a bi-weekly basis
• Demonstrate product and functional knowledge through client presentations to C-level executives and subject matter experts
• Negotiate and close client deals working alone or with internal team members
• Complete and submit weekly projections, objectives/goals, and sales reports by assigned deadlines
• Maintain accurate client records in client database system through completing daily activities, creating and maintaining sales opportunities and providing detailed notes.
• Plan and execute territory presentations and client visits as neededRequired Knowledge and Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written skills - writing sample required
• Manipulating Excel, Access, and other programs to produce and track compelling sales proposals
• Familiarity with the patent process and multiple patent, literature and technical databases
• Competent technology and business background and analytical skills with ability to communicate business and technical issues
• Independent self-starter with a passion for finding, organizing and presenting information
• Travel up to 30% of timeExperience:
• 2+ years in legal services sales, consulting, account management, business development, licensing or technology transfer
• BS or MS Degree from a top tier school - MBA or JD a plus
